It’s a World Cup year, so what would be more appropriate than meeting and hearing from one of only 11 St. Louisans who have played in the Men’s World Cup? You’ll have that opportunity when Steve Trittschuh, the pride of Metro East soccer, will be the special guest of author Dave Lange at Charlie’s Place in Belleville. The event is brought to you by Belleville Books. Steve will talk about his experiences playing in the 1990 World Cup, being the first American to play in what is today’s UEFA Champions League, his years in Major League Soccer and with the 1995 NPSL champion St. Louis Ambush, and his coaching career that included serving as head coach of St. Louis FC in the United Soccer Leagues Championship. Steve currently is head coach of the St. Louis Scott Gallagher U23 men’s team in the Midwest Premier League. You’ll have a chance to purchase Dave’s new book, “St. Louis Soccer: An Illustrated Timeline,” and have it signed by Steve and Dave. The book is published by Reedy Press with foreword by Carolyn Kindle, CEO and part owner of St. Louis CITY Soccer Club of MLS.
