Mark Filla’s 51st-minute goal propels Scott Gallagher of St. Louis to a 1-0 win in the final of the McGuire U-19 Cup over Philadelphia’s F.C. Delco in Indianapolis. Delco’s Juda Cooks shoots wide left on a penalty kick after a St. Louis player was ejected for hand ball in the penalty area later in the game. Scott Gallagher survives the last 17 minutes a player short after the ejection. The title is the 22nd and last McGuire Cup won by a St. Louis team. In other national finals played that day in Indianapolis, JB Marine of St. Louis loses, 4-0, to Central Valley Mercury of California in under-16 girls.
