October 6th (1984)
Oct. 6, 1984: Two St. Louisans are in the starting lineup and a third starter with a St. Louis connection helps the United States beat Netherlands Antilles, 4-0, in a World Cup qualifier at Busch Stadium before 12,436 fans. David Brcic posts the shutout in goal and fellow St. Louisan Perry Van Der Beck also starts. St. Louis Steamers stalwart Ricky Davis, a future U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer, assists on the first goal. Another St. Louisan, Steve Moyers, was scheduled to start, but left his U.S. passport at his home in New Jersey. (FIFA rules required all players to produce passports before playing in an international match.)
